At Fountain Dental Center, you can have all your needs met in one location, including orthodontic services for the entire family.

Bringing Your Children to the Orthodontist

By the time your child is 7-years-old, it is recommended that they see an orthodontist who will decide what treatment will be needed down the road. At 7, your child’s most prominent teeth should have grown in, allowing the orthodontist to make a reasonable prediction.

During this first consultation, our in-house orthodontist will decide if two-phase treatment should begin soon. By treating issues early, several problems can be addressed, like:

  • Creating more room for permanent teeth to grow in.
  • Reducing the need to extract permanent teeth.
  • Reducing the likelihood that permanent teeth will be impacted.
  • Correcting the effects of thumb sucking.
  • Eliminating abnormal swallowing or speech issues.
  • Regulating the width of both lower and upper dental arches.

While your child may very well not need any early treatment, it’s better to err on the side of caution.

Adults and Orthodontics

It’s never too late in life to get the smile you deserve. Besides, misaligned teeth are not merely a cosmetic issue. A misplaced bite can lead to excessive tooth wear, gum and bone loss, headaches, and jaw issues.

Invisalign: This is a popular option for adults, as they offer the benefit of being invisible and having shorter treatment times. The self-discipline required to keep up with this treatment makes it best-suited for adults only.

Braces: This is a common treatment for children who are between the ages of 9 and 14. Everyone’s smile is different, but the most common amount of time to have braces on is 1-2 years.

Other Available Treatments

Some other common reasons for seeing an orthodontist include TMJ treatment and surgical orthodontics. Fountain Dental Center also has an oral surgeon in the office should you need additional treatment.
